Addington Brings 40 Plus Years Experience as Head Filer
Kansas City, MO – July 30, 2013 – Brunson Instrument Company has hired Steve Addington, a 40+ year veteran saw filer and head filer in the sawmill industry. Steve has maintained a wide variety of sawmill equipment in various applications, and was instrumental in developing thin kerf sawing programs. He was also involved with a start-up mill, including the design/build of the filing room and training the filing crew. During his long service to the industry, Addington was employed as a head filer at the Stimson Lumber Company, Bennett Lumber Company, and Publishers Paper Company. His expertise includes machine center maintenance, alignment, and calibration, as well as product quality.
Early in his career, Addington was in charge of filing round saws and maintained all circular saws and saw guides in the sawmill and planing mill. In supervisory roles, he taught saw maintenance and alignment techniques to numerous successful saw filers. Steve has also been instrumental in establishing several safety programs for the industry.
Through partnerships with head saw filers and plant managers across North America, Brunson Instrument Company has researched and engineered a total solution comprised of technology, education and field services to radically improve uptime of all critical-path machinery in the sawmill. Mr. Addington joins the Brunson team to share his industry knowledge, and help sawmills optimize their machine centers to remain competitive in today’s timber market.
“We are proud to add Steve Addington to our Sawmill Optimization Team,” said Deighton Brunson, President. “Steve’s knowledge of the timber industry, and his willingness to embrace technology and progress during his career, are key assets for our team and for our customers. Our partnerships with lumber processors are resulting in major increases in recovery, quality, and a higher ROI on their expensive capital equipment.”
